18th March 2007
Mothering Sunday

Welcome to Bradley and Megan Burns and Chloe Gill who are being baptised at

St. John’s church today and to all their families and friends and of course to any newcomers, visitors and wedding couples.

There is a loop system in operation for the hard of hearing - “T” Position.

Holy Communion - if you feel unable to stand up for Communion, please sit in the front two pews, either side of the Church and our Clergy will bring Communion to you in your seats. Please do not struggle unnecessarily.

Mobile Phones - out of respect and courtesy for our service leaders and other church members, please ensure all phones are turned off until after the service.

Sunday School and Children’s Activities are available, depending on the type of Service being held, (see service page for details.)  Regardless of this, children are welcome at our Church(es) at anytime.  The children’s co-ordinators will normally collect the children at the start of the second hymn.  If the service is Holy Communion they will be returned in time for their `blessing’ and the final hymn.

PRAYER is also available after the main service in the prayer corner.  Should you wish someone to pray with you then please ask a Sidesperson?

prayers:-

On a Sunday when we think of the importance of scripture and persistent prayer, may we ask you to persistently pray for:-

§        The situation in Zimbabwe and wisdom for the opposition and world leaders.

§        Continue to pray for the church in Myanmar (Burma).

§        As we raise money for Christian Aid during lent, please pray for their work and other relief agencies, that they may use their money wisely.

§        Those who will be serving the church on the PCC during the coming year.

§        Give thanks for the continued recovery of Mark Rixon.

COLLECT

God of love,

Passionate and strong,

Tender and careful:

Watch over us and hold us

All the days of our life;

Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Voice for the Voiceless

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue…Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.

(Proverbs 31:25-26, 28)

-    Pray for Rebekka, Ratna and Eti, the three Indonesian Sunday school    teachers imprisoned and falsely accused of Christianisation after running a holiday club.

-    Pray for mothers in North Korea’s prison camps, who are subjected to forced infanticide.

-    Ask for God’s blessing on mothers in Burma who are fleeing with their families through the jungle.

Heavenly Father, thankyou for the blessing of motherhood, and for all that we have received from our own mothers. We ask that you would comfort those who may have lost their mothers, or whose relationships might be strained. We pray that You would also be near the mothers of the persecuted Church.
